DiGi expects 60% of revenue for 2013 from data

KUALA LUMPUR: DiGi.com Bhd expects data to contribute about 60% to its revenue for 2013 with 20% from voice and the remaining 20% from handset sales and other income, according to RHB Research Institute.

The research house said on Tuesday DiGi targeted 5% to 7% revenue growth. At the expected 20% contribution from voice, it said voice might still see growth in 2013.

"Maintain Neutral on DiGi with unchanged discounted cashflow fair value of RM5.10. We believe DiGi's revenue growth momentum is still intact, although margins may potentially come under pressure from handset subsidies. Valuations still look a bit stretched at this juncture, in our view," it said.

RHB Research said it attended an informal group briefing hosted by DiGi with CEO, Henrik Clausen, and CFO, Terje Borge on Monday.

The research house said DiGi while smartphones and of late tablets had been DiGi's main focus to grow data revenue, the management believed there was a viable market in the large screen market.

At 11.21am, DiGi's share price was up one sen to RM4.59. There were 2.54 million shares done at prices ranging from RM4.56 and RM4.59.

AirAsia seeks for Indian Airline JV

Malaysia’s AirAsia Bhd, Asia’s biggest budget carrier, said on Wednesday it is seeking approval to establish a joint venture involving unlisted Indian firms Tata Sons Ltd and Telestra Tradeplace Pvt Ltd.

"We have carefully evaluated developments in India over the last few years, and we strongly believe that the current environment is perfect to introduce our low fares," AirAsia chief executive Tony Fernandes said in a statement.

AirAsia, through its investment arm AirAsia Investment Ltd, intends to own 49 per cent of the new airline, with the remaining stake held by the two Indian firms. The venture plans to operate from Chennai in southern India and provide domestic flight options, said AirAsia.

The news comes after the carrier denied last year it was bidding for a stake in India’s SpiceJet Ltd.-- Reuters

Digi higher on solid FY12 results

A solid financial year 2012 (FY12) growth announced yesterday by Digi.Com Bhd saw the company's share price emerging among the top actives at the end of morning trade today.

At lunch-break, the counter rose 12 sen or 2.575 per cent to RM4.78 with 16.473 million units changing hands.

Driven by continued good uptake for its mobile internet services, its revenue for financial year ended Dec 31, 2012 improved 6.7 per cent to RM6.4 billion while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation was RM2.9 billion, at a margin of 46.0 per cent.

Hong Leong Investment Bank in a note today however said that Digi’s core net profit of RM1.205 billion for the year was below expectations.

It said this was mainly due to higher cost of goods sold and effective tax rate of 24.2 per cent in the absence of broadband tax incentive.

Hong Leong said the result met 92 per cent of its full year forecast and was shy of the street’s estimate by 25 per cent.

It said the fourth quarter 2012 revenue sales saw growth on the back of stronger data growth traction and improved network performance.

While growth in the mobile internet was cited as positive development, it said competition would be also intense from other players in the field.

Hong Leong adjusted lower the company's financial year 2013 and 2014 earning per share by 18.6 per cent and 12.7 per cent respectively and this downward revision of forecast also prompted a cut in target price by 6.8 per cent to RM4.79 from RM5.14.

RHB Research also reduced its financial year 2013-2014 earnings forecasts by 10-13 per cent following lower-than-expected fourth quarter results and after imputing higher effective tax rates of 24 per cent.

"We recommend a neutral on Digi after revising our fair value to RM5.10 from RM5.40 following the cut in our earnings forecasts.

"We believe its revenue growth momentum is still intact, although margins may potentially come under pressure from handset subsidies." -- Bernama

DiGi Financial Highlight

DiGi Q4'12

Revenue up but EPS drop due to high tax rate + capex.  Dividend just 2.5 cents only.  Disappointed!

Total dividend for '12 = 5.9 cents + 5.9 cents + 4 cents + 8 cents + 2.5 cents = 26.3 cents
DY for '12 = 5.64% (based on today's closing price of RM 4.66)

DiGi Q4 earnings down 37% to RM245m on-yr on higher taxes

KUALA LUMPUR: DiGi.Com Bhd's earnings fell 37% to RM245.52mil in the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2012 from RM394.22mil a year ago due to a higher tax rate. It proposed a dividend of 2.5 sen a share or 25%.

It announced on Wednesday Q412's effective tax rate of 31.7% was higher than the statutory tax rate of 25.0% due mainly to the reversal of prior quarters' broadband network-related tax incentives during the current quarter under review. It said that Q412's taxation surged to RM114.20mil.

DiGi said revenue rose 5.4% to RM1.629bil from RM1.545bil while earnings per share fell to 3.16 sen to 5.07.

Its earnings for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2012 fell 3.9% to RM1.205bil from RM1.254bil in FY11.

Its revenue increased by 6.6% to RM6.361bil from RM5.964bil a year ago.

For the year under review, mobile internet customers increased from 5.2 million to 5.7 million, with mobile data revenues now accounting for 32.7% of the group's overall service revenues.

During the year, DiGi increased its capital expenditure to RM700mil in line with the progress made on the company's business transformation programme, which included modernisation of its network, information system and information technology (IS/IT) infrastructure, and distribution channels.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unexpected poor result from DiGi.  Revenue rose but EPS fell due to high tax rate of 31.7% instead of 25%.  Damn... That's why dividend just gives 2.5 cents.  A bit disappointed!

HEKTAR Q4'12

I think this quarter Hektar cannot do the comparison with Q4'11 as they acquisition two properties, Central Square in Sungai Petani, Kedah and Landmark Central in Kulim, Kedah. Hopefully, we can see the more earning from these two acquisition properties.

Yes, Hektar declared a final dividend of 2.7 cents.
Total dividend = 2.6 + 2.6 + 2.6 + 2.7 = 10.5 cents (same as year 2011)
DY = 7.14% (based on today's price of RM1.47)

Actually, DY not bad, i.e. > FD.  I think the dividend will increase in coming quarters.  Let's wait patiently.

AirAsia Group carried 33.8m passengers in 2012, up 13% on-year

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Group carried 33.826 million passengers in the financial year ended Dec 31, 2012 (FY12) an increase of 13% from the 29.859 million carried in 2011.

The low-cost carrier said on Monday the increase in FY12 was also in line with its capacity, based on the number of seats flown, which rose 13% also to 42.423 million from 37.505 million.

Its load factor, based on the number of passengers carried as a percentage of capacity, was unchanged at 80%.

AirAsia said year-on-year, Malaysia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia and Indonmesia AirAsia took in an additional 17 aircraft, increasing the group's total fleet to 113 at the end of 2012. If Philippines' AirAsia and AirAsia Japan were included, this would increase to 118 aircraft.

For the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2012 (Q412), Malaysia AirAsia posted a high load factor of 82%. It carried 5.205 million passengers, a 7% increase on-year from 4.854 million, which is in line with the increase in capacity.

The increase in capacity was to cater to the additional frequencies on existing routes and five new routes. They were Kuala Lumpur-Lombok, KL-Nanning, KL-Kunming, Kota Kinabalu-Guangzhou and KL-Solo (re-launched).

It said Malaysia AirAsia added five new aircraft in Q412 and had 64 aircraft as of end-2012. Thai AirAsia recorded a load factor of 82% in Q412, up 4% on-year. It carried 2.272 million passengers, up 25% versus capacity increase of 19%.

Since it started operating from Don Mueang International Airport on Oct 1, it had started three new routes. They were Bangkok-Mandalay, Bangkok-Wuhan and Bangkok-Xian. It added two aircraft in Q412, increasing the total fleet to 27 aircraft. As for Indonesia AirAsia, it recorded a strong load factor of 76% in Q412 with about 1.613 million passengers carried, up 29% on-year. The 31% increase in capacity from the same period in 2011 was to support the increase in frequencies and the additional seven new routes.
